We are at the finish line for a momentous project, the restoration of the frescos of the Holy Stairs. It has been amazing to see the transformation of this sacred pilgrimage site over the years. We could not be more thankful to the Patrons who helped fund this project. Their patience and support, along with the dedicated work of the Vatican Museums restorers, revitalized the play of light and depth of the rich pigmented colors.
The completed restoration allows the faithful to continue offering devotion to Christ’s passion. Pilgrims are able to experience the painted bible in an extremely intimate and personal way.
We cannot wait to welcome you all back to Rome to make your own pilgrimage to witness the completed restoration of the Scala Santa. We are aware that many of our patrons cannot make the journey to Rome due to the pandemic therefore, the Patrons Office wanted to capture the completion of this restoration on video.
