New Year New Projects!

Dear Patrons and Friends,
Built in 440 A.D. just behind the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Baptistery had been, for generations, the only baptistery in Rome. Almost as old as the fifth-century structure itself, there is a half-dome of mosaics from about 450 A.D. decorating a side chapel.
The mosaics were subjected to intensive deterioration so some of our Patrons have stepped forward to fund the restoration of this apse which is being carried out by the Vatican Museums mosaic restorers.

New year, new project, new phase of restoration: BRAMANTE COURTYARD

The four-phase restoration of the Bramante Courtyard commenced in 2016 after extensive investigation, research, and analysis. To date, restorers have completed their work on the North, South, and West Walls and the results are stunning. With additional funding from the Patrons, we anticipate the completion of the fourth and final stage of this architectural restoration by the fall of 2022.
